In honour of Youth Month, Wonderbag was proud to amplify its ongoing call to action, encouraging young people to take the lead in building a more sustainable and equitable future. At a time when the world faces escalating environmental pressures, the responsibility for creating lasting change rests heavily on the shoulders of today’s youth. Their creativity, conviction, and capacity for impact are vital, not only in voicing concerns but in driving tangible solutions.

Within June, Wonderbag placed the spotlight on the next generation of environmental leaders and innovators. Through educational outreach, community-based initiatives, and youth empowerment programmes, the organisation has always been committed to providing young people with the knowledge, resources, and platforms they need to become agents of change within their communities and beyond.
As part of this mission, the Wonderbag team has, over the past few years, actively engaged with primary schools and hospital burn units to extend their impact. These visits have included the distribution of Wonderbag Pencil Club to young learners and educational sessions with nurses on the practical use and benefits of Wonderbags. Notable examples include outreach to Nonoti Primary School in Darnall, as well as Stanger and Grey’s Hospital Burn Unit. These efforts not only promote sustainability but also offer practical solutions that improve daily life and encourage environmental awareness from a young age.
Revolutionising Cooking for a Greener Tomorrow
The Wonderbag is a non-electric, heat-retention cooker that allows food to continue cooking long after being removed from a heat source. By eliminating the need for constant electricity, this simple, cost-effective innovation reduces up to 70% of the energy used in traditional cooking methods, lowers carbon emissions, and mitigates indoor air pollution – a critical health concern responsible for millions of deaths each year. Beyond its environmental impact, the Wonderbag also saves hours otherwise spent tending to meals, opening up time for education, entrepreneurship, and personal development, a solution rooted in dignity, health, and opportunity.
Inspiring the Environmental Leaders of Tomorrow
“Young people today are among the most powerful and influential voices in the fight against climate change,” says Sarah Collins, Founder of Wonderbag. “They not only grasp the urgency of the environmental crisis but also have the courage to question and confront systems that no longer serve the well-being of people or the planet. The Wonderbag offers them a tangible, impactful way to take meaningful action—reducing emissions, conserving resources, and improving health—while inspiring others in their communities to follow their lead and be part of the solution.”

“This past Youth Month, we invited young environmentalists to see the Wonderbag not merely as a tool, but as part of a larger movement—one that fosters climate awareness, strengthens community resilience, and sparks grassroots innovation. With their digital fluency, creativity, and deep commitment to climate justice, today’s youth are uniquely equipped to expand the reach and amplify the impact of this solution, driving real change from the ground up.” expressed Collins.
To further support youth this June, Wonderbag offered a Youth Month Bulk Special: R150 per large Wonderbag, with a minimum of 10 orders, delivery excluded. Orders placed by 30 June were entered into a prize draw to nominate a school to receive Wonderbag Pencil Club.
Youth at the Forefront of Sustainable Transformation
The next generation is already transforming the climate conversation, from global policy arenas to everyday community spaces, fuelled by a deep commitment to justice, equity, and environmental stewardship. By embracing tools like the Wonderbag, young people are not just calling for change—they are embodying it. In championing their efforts, Wonderbag reaffirms its belief in locally driven, youth-led solutions that prioritise both people and the planet. This initiative demonstrates a call to reimagine and rebuild a better future, together.
